Frequently Asked Questions
What is C2PA?
Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity — the standard for signed content credentials. Adobe, OpenAI (DALL-E 3), Microsoft, BBC, Sony are backing it. A C2PA manifest proves where an image came from. You'll see it as metadata if the generator embedded it.
Can metadata be stripped?
Yes — any image editor, screenshot, or re-save can remove EXIF + C2PA. If an image has no metadata, it means nothing definitive. Presence of C2PA is evidence of provenance; absence is not evidence of fraud.
What about AI watermarks?
Some providers embed invisible watermarks (SynthID by Google, Stable Diffusion Mint). This tool reads metadata only — it does not detect invisible watermarks (needs specialized decoders).
