Frequently Asked Questions
How does this work?
Photoplethysmography (PPG): when blood pumps, light reflection through your finger changes slightly. Phone camera detects pixel-brightness fluctuations matching heartbeat. Same tech as fitness wearables.
Mobile-only?
Yes — needs a camera with flashlight, finger placement, motion-free hold. Desktop webcams without flash + finger placement won't work.
Accuracy?
Within ±5 BPM of pulse oximeter for resting rate. Less accurate during motion, low-light, cold fingers (poor capillary fill). Not medical device.
