Frequently Asked Questions
IE classes meaning?
IEC 60034-30: IE1 (standard), IE2 (high), IE3 (premium), IE4 (super-premium). EU mandates IE3 minimum since 2017 for >0.75kW. IE4 advisable for high-runtime applications.
Real efficiency difference?
IE2 → IE3: ~2-4% gain. IE3 → IE4: ~1-2% gain. Sounds small but on a 75kW motor running 8000h/yr at €0.20/kWh = ~€2,400/yr per 2% gain.
When does IE4 NOT pay back?
Low runtime (<2000h/yr), low energy cost, or motor near end-of-life. Generally: IE4 only worthwhile if motor runs >3000h/yr at industrial €/kWh ≥ 0.10.
