Frequently Asked Questions
What are the formulas?
C → F: F = (C × 9/5) + 32. F → C: C = (F − 32) × 5/9. C → K: K = C + 273.15. K → C: C = K − 273.15.
What's absolute zero?
0 Kelvin = −273.15°C = −459.67°F. The theoretical lowest possible temperature — all molecular motion stops.
Why does Kelvin not use the degree symbol?
Kelvin is an absolute scale (unlike C and F which are relative to reference points). Convention: "300 K" not "300°K".
Common temperatures to remember?
Water freezes: 0°C / 32°F / 273.15 K. Water boils: 100°C / 212°F / 373.15 K. Body temp: 37°C / 98.6°F.
